Community Guidelines

Last updated 19 October 2026

Wendevo brings people together through shared interests, events and real-life experiences. These guidelines explain what we expect from everyone using Wendevo, including how members behave when interacting with people they meet through the platform.

Who these guidelines apply to

These guidelines apply to Wendevo members, organizers, community administrators and other people using our services. They cover profiles, messages, communities, events, ticketing and interactions arranged through Wendevo.

Everyone is expected to treat others with respect, both online and when attending activities organized or discovered through the platform.

1. Be authentic

  • Represent yourself honestly. Do not impersonate another person or organization.
  • Use photos that accurately represent you. Do not use another person's identity or images without permission.
  • Maintain only one personal account unless Wendevo explicitly permits otherwise.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to use Wendevo.
  • Do not provide false information during identity verification or organizer onboarding.

2. Treat people with respect

  • Do not harass, bully, threaten, intimidate or deliberately humiliate others.
  • Do not promote hatred or discriminate against people based on ethnicity, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or other protected characteristics.
  • Respect personal boundaries. If someone declines a connection, invitation or conversation, do not pressure them.
  • Do not send unwanted sexual messages, explicit images or other inappropriate content.
  • Any sexual exploitation or abuse involving minors is strictly prohibited.

3. Help keep real-life meetups safe

  • Respect the agreed meeting location and the boundaries of everyone attending.
  • Do not pressure anyone to move a meetup to a private or unfamiliar location.
  • Violence, threats, intimidation and the unlawful possession or use of weapons are prohibited.
  • Respect venue rules, event organizers, staff and fellow attendees.
  • Do not engage in conduct that puts other attendees at risk, including dangerous or reckless behaviour.
  • Never pressure someone to consume alcohol, drugs or other substances.

For practical advice on meeting people safely, visit our Safety page.

4. No scams or financial exploitation

  • Do not solicit money, gifts, transport fares or financial assistance from members through misleading or exploitative requests.
  • Do not promote fraudulent investments, pyramid schemes, phishing, fake opportunities or other financial scams.
  • Never request another person's password, payment credentials, OTP or sensitive financial information.
  • Do not use Wendevo chats, profiles or communities for unsolicited commercial advertising or spam.
  • Where Wendevo ticketing is offered, use the authorized checkout process. Do not mislead attendees into making unofficial payments for tickets.

5. Share content responsibly

  • Do not post illegal content, explicit sexual material, graphic violence or content encouraging harm.
  • Only upload photographs, videos and other materials you have the right to share.
  • Respect people's privacy. Do not publish private contact information, addresses, identity documents or sensitive personal information without authorization.
  • Obtain appropriate permission before sharing photographs or recordings of others, particularly in private settings.
  • Do not post spam, malicious links or content intended to deceive or manipulate other members.

6. Organize events responsibly

Organizers and community administrators have additional responsibilities because other people rely on the information they provide.

  • Describe events accurately, including dates, times, venues, admission requirements, prices and what tickets include.
  • Do not create fraudulent, misleading, unlawful or unsafe events.
  • Communicate material event changes to attendees where required.
  • Follow applicable laws, venue requirements and Wendevo's organizer policies.
  • Respect attendee privacy and use registration information only for legitimate event-related purposes.
  • Community administrators must take reasonable steps to address inappropriate behaviour in the communities they manage.

Organizers should also review the Organizer Terms.

7. Reporting a concern

If you encounter behaviour that may violate these guidelines, you can use the reporting features available in Wendevo or contact our safety team at safety@wendevo.com.

We assess reports based on their nature, severity and the information available. Reports involving threats, suspected exploitation or immediate safety risks may receive priority.

We handle reports with appropriate privacy protections. However, we may need to disclose relevant information where required by law or reasonably necessary to investigate or address a concern.

If someone is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first. In Nigeria, you can try 112. Wendevo is not an emergency response service.

8. How we enforce these guidelines

When we identify a possible violation, we may review the relevant account, content or activity and take action depending on the circumstances.

Possible actions include:

  • Issuing a warning.
  • Removing or restricting content.
  • Restricting features such as messaging, event creation or community participation.
  • Suspending or permanently disabling an account.
  • Cancelling or restricting events where appropriate.
  • Preserving or sharing information with appropriate authorities where required or permitted by law.

Serious violations may result in immediate restrictions while we investigate. We may consider the severity of the conduct, available evidence, previous violations and potential risk to others.

9. Questions and appeals

If you believe an enforcement decision was made in error, or you have questions about these guidelines, contact safety@wendevo.com. We will consider the information available and review the decision where appropriate.

10. Changes to these guidelines

Wendevo may update these guidelines as our community and services evolve. We will publish the current version here and communicate significant changes where appropriate.

These guidelines should be read alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
